To Pace or Not To Pace
What Is Pacing?
Pacing is the system that releases your money gradually through Daily Cash.
Instead of seeing your full monthly amount at once, Roo spreads it out over time.
This helps you:
- Avoid front-loading spending
- Adjust naturally during the month
- Stay aligned with real income timing
Pacing is powered by the Reservoir and Daily Cash working together.
What Happens If You Turn Pacing Off?
When you turn pacing off:
- Daily Cash stops
- The Living Pouch receives money differently
- You see larger balances at once
You are now managing your money more traditionally.
Roo still works, but it no longer guides your pace.
Why Pacing Is Recommended
Most overspending is not caused by bad intentions.
It is caused by timing.
When all of your money is visible at once, it is easy to spend faster early in the month.
Pacing smooths that out.
It shifts your focus from “How much do I have total?” to:
“Am I spending at a steady rate?”
That question changes behavior.
When Would Someone Turn It Off?
Some users turn pacing off temporarily if:
- They are rebuilding their plan
- They are making major structural changes
- They are testing how the system feels
But long term, Roo works best with pacing on.
A Simple Way To Think About It
With pacing on: You manage your speed.
With pacing off: You manage your total.
Roo was designed to manage speed.
