Missing Matches
Is It Delayed Or Missing?
Matches are created when the same money shows up in two places, such as:
- Paying a credit card
- Moving money between on-budget accounts
Banks do not always post both sides at the same time. One transaction might appear today and the other a day or two later.
Roo is waiting, not failing.
What To Do First

-
Keep using Roo. Matches don’t change how much money you have. They just keep your accounts and pouches aligned.
-
If you only see one side of a Match:
- Swipe the transaction to Match
- Roo will automatically pair it when the other side arrives
-
If you already sent one card to Match and don’t see the other yet:
- Be patient for a few days
- If it has been a few days…Search for a matching transaction using the finding transactions instructions.
When You Should Investigate
You should investigate if:
- It has been several days
- You are not sure the second transaction exists
- You receive a Still Unmatched card
After 7 days, Roo sends unmatched transactions back to your Roo screen and alerts you.
Why Matches Sometimes Go Missing
If a match truly looks missing, one of the following is usually happening.
It Was Swiped To The Wrong Pouch
No worries!
Follow the instructions for Finding Transactions and reprocess the transaction when you find it.
Finding TransactionsRoo Did Not Recognize It As A Match
Not a problem. Follow the instructions for Finding Transactions and reprocess the transaction when you find it.
Finding TransactionsThe Bank Connection Is Broken
That’s easy!
Go to Menu → Banks and check the connection.
If any of them are broken they will have a broken connection icon next to their name.
Reconnect the bank and search for the transaction.
The Transaction Is In An Off-Budget Account
Transactions in Off-Budget accounts do not appear in your swiping stack.
Matches only occur between two On-Budget accounts or between an On-Budget and Credit Card account.
If one side is Off-Budget, remove the visible transaction from Match and send it to the correct pouch.
Common Mistake
Treating A Transfer Like Spending
For example:
- You pay your credit card from checking
- The payment shows in checking
- The credit card side has not arrived yet
If you swipe the payment to a pouch like Living or Bills, Roo treats it as spending instead of a transfer.
Your pouches shrink even though your real cash position has not changed.
Nothing is broken.
Nothing is lost.
It is just mislabeled.
How To Fix It
- Find the wrongly labeled transaction
- Tap Reprocess
- Send it to Match
Everything corrects immediately.
A Simple Way To Think About It
Matches are about alignment, not money.
If something looks off, it is usually timing or classification, not a loss of funds.
