Living Pouch 101

The Living Pouch

What The Living Pouch Is

The Living Pouch is where your day-to-day spending lives.

Instead of separating groceries, gas, entertainment, and small purchases into dozens of categories, Roo groups them together in one place.

This is intentional.

The Living Pouch simplifies spending so you can focus on pace instead of micromanaging details.

What Belongs In The Living Pouch

The Living Pouch typically includes:

  • Groceries
  • Gas
  • Dining out
  • Entertainment
  • Household supplies
  • Small personal purchases

If it is part of everyday life and not a scheduled bill, it belongs in Living.

Bills, subscriptions, and fixed payments belong in the Bills pouch. Savings and Goals belong in their own pouches.

Living is for everything flexible.

Why The Living Pouch Works

Most budgeting systems try to control spending through categories.

Roo does something different.

Instead of tracking dozens of buckets, Roo uses the Living Pouch together with Daily Cash to manage pace.

This means:

  • You do not need to decide which category has room
  • You do not need to move money around constantly
  • You only need to watch one number

The Living Pouch gives you clarity without complexity.

How To Set Up The Living Pouch

When you first set up Roo, the Living Pouch is created automatically.

To get started:

  1. Fund it with about one day of Daily Cash
  2. Swipe everyday spending into Living
  3. Watch the balance to stay on pace as you receive Daily Cash to fund it

That balance becomes your one number on the Roo screen.

FAQs

How do the Living Pouch and the Reservoir work together?

They serve two different purposes but work together to regulate your spending.

When income arrives, it first goes into the Reservoir. The Reservoir then releases money gradually as Daily Cash, which flows into the Living Pouch. You spend from the Living Pouch.

Reservoir:

  • Holds unreleased income
  • Manages pacing by sending out Daily Cash each day
  • Reflects timing between paychecks
  • You do not spend from it

Living Pouch:

  • Receives the Daily Cash
  • Holds your available day-to-day money
  • Is where you swipe flexible spending transactions
  • Is the number you watch to track your pacing

The Reservoir is upstream. The Living Pouch is where the water collects for daily use.
