How To Set Up A Goal Pouch
What Is A Goal?
A Goal is a pouch for money you are saving on purpose.
Set one when you know what the money is for and want Roo to fund it automatically over time.
Step 1: Add Or Edit A Pouch

- Go to the Plan screen.
- Scroll down to Other Pouches.
- Tap the + button to add a new pouch or tap an existing pouch to edit it.
- Enter Edit Mode.

If adding new pouch
- Tap the add pouch button at the bottom.

- Name your pouch.
- Choose an icon and save.
Step 2: Set Your Target Amount
Choose how much you want to save each month.
- Use the slider, or
- Enter a specific number in the amount field.

Step 3: Choose Your Goal Mode
Toggle Goal Mode on and select one of two goal modes:
🔁 Keep Full To Target
- Funds to the target
- Pauses when full
- Automatically resumes if the balance drops
Best for: Emergency funds, car maintenance, recurring needs.
🎯 One-Time Goal
- Funds to the target
- Removes the pouch from River automation once full
- The pouch remains in Pouches and simply holds the money
Best for: Vacations, new laptop, one-time purchases.
Step 4: Save
Tap Save.
Your new Goal Pouch will now appear under Other Pouches on your River.
Important: Where Goal Rules Apply
Goal rules only control funding inside the Other Pouches section of your River.

If this pouch is funded from other sections of the River, those allocations will continue, even after the target is reached.
The goal rule only applies in the Other Pouches section where it’s created.
How To Remove A Goal Pouch
There are two different actions here. This is where people get confused.
Removing From The River
- Go into Edit Mode.
- Tap the pouch.
- Delete it.
This removes it from your River plan, but the pouch still exists.
Deleting The Pouch Completely
- Go to the Pouches screen.
- Delete the pouch there.
This removes the pouch entirely.
Common Confusion
Deleting something from the River does not delete the pouch itself.
- The River controls planning. Deleting from the River removes it from your plan.
- The Pouches screen controls existence. Deleting from the Pouches screen removes it completely.
Nothing breaks. You’re just choosing where it lives.
