Match Pouch

A Core Pouch that serves as a holding area for matching transactions that cancel each other out. In the context of a budget, this can happen when money is transferred between two bank accounts that are BOTH On Budget.

For example, when you transfer money from a savings account to a checking account, the total amount money in your budget hasn’t actually changed. Without the matching Pouch, you could receive both halves of the transfer - one negative transaction and one positive transaction - at separate times. Occasionally, it can be several days before a match is found for a transaction.

Processing Matching transactions incorrectly - like adding the positive to the Income Plan and the other to Bills - can lead to problems. Both transactions should be processed appropriately to cancel the other out.

The purpose of the Match Pouch is to hold one of a transfer until the other one comes through in the system to prevent any issues.

Unmatched items in this pouch will eventually generate a Match Warning.
