The practice of combining related budgeting purposes into a single pouch rather than creating separate ones for each category. Roo strongly encourages grouping — especially for the Bills and Living pouches — to increase your system’s sustainability.

More categories doesn’t always mean better budgeting. Complexity can actually work against you if it pushes your system past the tipping point. Roo’s philosophy is that a system must be sustainable to be successful long term.

For example, rather than having a pouch for every day-to-day expense, most can be grouped into the Living pouch. Paired with Daily Cash, this greatly reduces effort and nearly eliminates decision fatigue.
