Assigned The amount of money you’ve designated for a specific category in the current month. Read more →

Available The amount left to spend in a category after accounting for assigned funds and spending. Read more →

Budget Your overall plan for how to allocate your money across categories. Read more →

Category A bucket for organizing your spending (e.g., Groceries, Rent, Entertainment). Read more →

Category Group A collection of related categories (e.g., a “Bills” group containing Rent, Utilities, Insurance). Read more →

Cleared A transaction that has been processed and confirmed by your financial institution. Read more →

Envelope Budgeting A method where you allocate money into virtual “envelopes” (categories) before spending it — the core philosophy behind Roo. Read more →

Income Money received — paychecks, refunds, transfers in. Income is assigned to categories. Read more →

Linked Account An account connected to your bank via account linking, enabling automatic transaction imports. Read more →

Manual Account An account where you enter transactions yourself, rather than importing them from a bank. Read more →

Reconciliation The process of confirming that your Roo account balance matches your actual bank balance. Read more →

Scheduled Transaction A transaction set to occur on a future date — useful for recurring bills. Read more →

Split Transaction A single transaction divided across multiple categories (e.g., a store receipt split between Groceries and Household). Read more →

Transfer Moving money between two of your own accounts. Transfers don’t affect your budget totals. Read more →

Zero-Based Budget A budgeting approach where every dollar is assigned a purpose, leaving zero unassigned dollars. This is the method Roo encourages. Read more →
